Sharing my experiences with other learning designers on social media platforms creates a network of colleagues for support, guidance and feedback. This article is a 6-part series edition entitled, “Educators in the Gray”. The power of an Educator is their voices. The power in the learner is the ADVOCATE.

While working with a SME pediatric diabetes specialist, I created this infographic comparing Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. The infographic was posted on social media platforms to inform other parents about this disease. My son was diagnosed after a viral infection (Covid-19) attacked his pancreas. The infographic assisted in educating families of children with diabetes as well as aided in building relationships with professional colleagues with Type 1 diabetic children.

The second edition of “Educators in the Gray” captures the experience of the learner through the eyes of an advocate. Infographic stories captures the hearts and minds of the reader. Using the icon links provided the reader with statistics from the perspective of the learner and the empathy of a parent.

Video captures scenario based learning, interactive quizzes and assessments for learners to self assess understanding of the course.

e-Learning Experience Trials & Testimony Teacher-to-Coach

This e-course was designed using Articulate Rise. I reached out to several Quality Matters certified trained colleagues for feedback and evaluation. Acting as the SME (Subject Matter Expert), I created this course while reflecting on a time training was needed to bridge professional learning gaps. I used Blooms Taxonomy to design objectives to create practical learning progression for educators.

The client is a mental health professional with a goal to build a brand of e-Learning modules aimed for guided self reflection through journaling. Due to the pandemic the client wanted to create a virtual space for clients in the maintenance stage. Education Consultant Work

After 4 years of conducting training for educators, 98% teachers reported a need for ongoing instructor-led professional development training.

Problem: Grant funded projects are not able to sustain professional development for teacher preparation programs. Therefore do not have adequate training for new staff, and faculty.

Solution: Microlearning activities incorporated into learner's daily routines and tasks. Here is an example of a session flipped into microlearning using push technology through push media, which reduces the cognitive load on the learners. The example provides the learner with flexibility, and a sustainable solution for learning.

e-Learning Institute

The goal of the company is to transition their instructor led manuals into e-learning modules. Since the client currently uses existing manuals, I conducted a focus group to gather feedback to establish training needs from facilitators and previous graduates. The client did not want to abandon instructor-led facilitation. We designed a gradual release model that would suit new business, improve facilitation and create a gradual released plan for implementation and evaluation. Therefore, a more affordable and practical solution was designed as a practical coaching guide, accompanied by short video snippets aligned with targeted objectives (from manual), build rapport, and enhance instructor led sessions.
